You made it to Thursday!
It’s the Friday of non-Friday weekdays. That is worth celebrating.
And in the spirit of basing our emotional wellbeing on the endless and unchanging cycle of time, I invite you to also invest emotionally in a television show. That’s how I’ve lived my life and so far it’s given me many psychological problems, but it has ALSO given me enough material to write an inconsistently published newsletter. So, ultimately, a worthy trade-off.
And since the winter of a pandemic is the perfect time to lose your sense of self in a television show, I would like to strongly recommend you dive headfirst into Misfits.
It’s British (a pre-Meghan Markle Britain, yes, but still of value), it’s SEXY (it’s a pandemic… I know how important this is…), and it is, most importantly, about a group of unlikely hot “petty criminals” who very suddenly get literal superpowers and are hot and super together.
And if you’re still not convinced this is a worthy investment of your time, I can tell you that if you stick it out until season 2, you will be rewarded with a performance from Hamlet herself, Lady Ruth Negga.
Watch Misfits on Hulu, on Prime, or—I can’t stress this enough—Google it. You grew up in the age of LimeWire, you can figure it out.
Finally, please allow me this one out-of-context lustful gif of Ruth Negga as Hamlet. I need this.
Happy day 3 Simone!
Misfits is sooo good, thank you for the reminder (gonna rewatch all weekend haha).
My colleague refers to Thursday as "Jr Friday" in emails. It's silly, I love it and now every day is a Jr pre-Friday for me.
